A jewel beetle perches on a wet fern frond along a muddy game trail in Costa Rica. The insect's metallic green elytra catch the low golden light, turning into a dark, glossy silhouette against the bright sky. Rain-soaked leaves glisten with monsoon moisture, whipping slightly in the wind that bends the surrounding vegetation. The beetle remains motionless, its legs gripping the slick surface with patient predatory stillness. Shadows stretch long across the damp earth, highlighting the texture of the fern's serrated edges and the sheen on the beetle's hard shell. One raindrop rests on the tip of a nearby leaf, reflecting the fading sunset.
