Bushbaby Eyes Glimmering in Wet Season Mist
by Lars Warner
Thick white mist rests on the humid air along a game trail near Salvador, softening the edges of the wet season landscape. A bushbaby sits perched on a rough, moss-draped branch, viewed from behind. Its enormous, dark eyes reflect the pale, diffused dawn light, appearing as two glowing obsidian spheres against the grey fog. The animal's fur looks dense and slightly damp, absorbing the cool moisture of the early morning. Surrounding ferns and broad leaves hang heavy with water droplets, their green tones muted by the low light. A thin layer of steam rises from the damp ground below the branch, blending with the atmospheric haze. The subject remains motionless, its silhouette sharp against the bright, milky background. One dewdrop slides slowly down a nearby leaf tip.
