Hokkaido Sea Cliff Storm Runoff Sunrise in in Hokkaido

Hokkaido Sea Cliff Storm Runoff Sunrise

by Kyle Kramer

Pale violet light strikes the horizon haze above a rugged Hokkaido coastline where early winter storm runoff cascades down dark basalt cliffs. Low-hanging clouds press against the rock face, softening the jagged edges of the precipice. Below, a wet rock shelf acts as a perfect mirror, reflecting the gray sky and the streaks of water sliding over the stone. The water creates a fluid, silvery texture that contrasts with the rough, moss-dusted surfaces of the cliff. Deep shadows pool in the crevices while the rising sun casts a faint golden glow on the distant sea mist. A thin layer of frost dusts the dry grass tufts clinging to the upper ridge. at the edge is the sharp, dark line where the reflected water meets the solid rock edge.
