Graffiti Wall Behind Fire Hydrant at Dawn in under an elevated train line in Chatham-Kent

Graffiti Wall Behind Fire Hydrant at Dawn

by Steve Flores

Drizzle silvering the pavement beneath an elevated train line in Chatham-Kent. Vibrant graffiti tags in electric blue and crimson cover the weathered concrete wall, their colors deepening under the wet surface. A rusted fire hydrant stands in the foreground, its red paint peeling where rain has pooled at its base. First rays of sunrise pierce through the industrial steel beams overhead, casting long, cool shadows across the wet asphalt. Peak autumn leaves, brown and curled, rest on the sidewalk cracks. The light catches the wet sheen on the metal hydrant, highlighting the texture of the chipped paint against the smooth, rain-slicked ground.
