Silver rain beads on the wet asphalt beneath a flickering underpass light in El Tigre. A bright red fire hydrant stands in deep shadow, its curved metal body catching a sharp rim of cool light that separates it from the darkness. Drifting autumn leaves, brown and yellow, swirl around the base, some sticking to the damp pavement while others hang suspended in the gloom.
