Red Hydrant and Graffiti Wall in Rain in beside a steamed-up bus shelter in Colegiales, Buenos Aires

Red Hydrant and Graffiti Wall in Rain

by Harley Arnold

Deep indigo light from the late autumn sky reflects off the wet concrete of the Colegiales sidewalk. A bright red fire hydrant stands at the left edge of the frame, its metal surface covered in scattered water droplets that catch the ambient glow. Behind it, a weathered brick wall displays layers of faded graffiti tags and peeling posters, their colors muted by the humid air. Steam rises visibly from the nearby bus shelter, blurring the background into soft streaks of gray and orange. Rain pools in the pavement cracks, creating distorted mirror images of the wall's chaotic artwork. A thin rivulet of water traces a path down the hydrant's bolted seam, disappearing into the dark grate below.
