Fireflies Drift Over Ruined Orchard Wall at Dawn in at the edge of a tea plantation in Geneva

Fireflies Drift Over Ruined Orchard Wall at Dawn

by Soren Cash

Soft, diffused light from an overcast sky washes over a crumbling stone wall where wild vines rest on the masonry. Tiny, glowing insects drift through the cool stillness before sunrise, their faint amber points of light contrasting against the damp, dark green leaves of a nearby tea plantation. The wall, constructed of weathered grey blocks, forms a strong leading line that guides toward the distant, misty rows of the estate. Monsoon moisture coats the surface of the stones in a fine sheen, reflecting the pale morning grey. Delicate spiderwebs stretch between the broken bricks, heavy with unseen dew. The air remains still, allowing the floating lights to hover just above the moss-covered ground without disturbance.
