Service Tunnel Ladders at Autumn Twilight
Rain streaks the rough concrete of a service tunnel running alongside a massive dam spillway in North Carolina. Vertical steel maintenance ladders climb the gray wall, their rungs catching the cool blue light of twilight. Distant town glow paints the horizon with soft orange bands, contrasting the deep indigo of the falling rain. Peak autumn leaves in shades of russet and gold cling to trees visible above the spillway crest, their colors muted by the moisture. Water droplets bead on the metal handrails, reflecting the faint sky light. The tunnel entrance yawns dark and deep, framed by the sharp geometric lines of the concrete structure.
