Silhouetted Station Master House Ruin in inside a roofless nave near Guantánamo

Silhouetted Station Master House Ruin

by Hope Cunningham

Honeyed evening light pours through the open sky where a roof once stood, casting the interior of the station master's house into deep silhouette. The buckled roofline creates a jagged horizon against the bright backdrop, framing the hollow nave. Damp air hangs heavy among the weathered stones, clinging to the rough texture of the crumbling masonry. Low-angle perspective emphasizes the towering, broken walls that stand as skeletal sentinels. Cool season air settles in the shadows, leaving the damp surfaces with a dark, saturated sheen. One patch of moss rests on the lower corner of a fractured archway.
