Blue Hour Ruin of Melted Ice in Roofless Hammam

by Athena Baker

Pale blue twilight fills the hollowed interior of a roofless stone structure in early spring Norway. A dark, irregular puddle of refrozen ice sits on the uneven floor, its surface cracked and glossy against the rough masonry. The building's arches stand in silhouette against the deepening sky, framing the scene through the missing roof. Wind ripples the thin layer of frost on the ground. Jagged edges of broken brick and damp stone line the perimeter. A thin ribbon of light reflects off the ice, mirroring the gray sky above. The texture of the frozen water contrasts sharply with the soft, eroded mortar of the ancient walls.
