Camel Caravan Crosses Libyan Marsh Causeway at Dawn in on a wind-open causeway in Libya

Camel Caravan Crosses Libyan Marsh Causeway at Dawn

by Kenneth Abbott

Soft, diffused morning light washes over a long line of camels moving steadily across a raised causeway cutting through a vast Libyan marsh. The air hangs still and cool before sunrise, casting a pale gray tone over the water and the low, dramatic clouds gathering on the horizon. Mud and dried salts crust the flanks of the animals, marking their passage through the wet terrain. The straight path creates strong leading lines that pull the eye deep into the hazy distance where the sky meets the flat earth. Each camel steps with deliberate calm, their shadows stretching short and soft against the muddy ground. The texture of the wet causeway contrasts with the rough, salt-stained hides of the caravan as they traverse the serene, waterlogged landscape.
