Camel Train Crossing Dunes Beside Iranian Tidal Inlet
by Saul Stokes
Copper-toned light washes over a line of camels moving steadily across undulating sand dunes adjacent to a tidal inlet in Iran. The midsummer heat rises in visible waves, distorting the horizon where the sky meets the water. The animals walk in single file, their humps and legs silhouetted against the bright, shimmering air. Fine grains of sand shift under their padded feet, kicking up small, temporary clouds that hang suspended in the thermal haze. The water edge reflects the warm sky, creating a mirror surface that contrasts with the textured, dry dunes. Focus narrows sharply on the lead camel, rendering the trailing figures and the distant inlet into a soft, impressionistic blur of gold and brown tones. at the edge is the dark, wet rim of the tidal channel cutting through the dry sand.
