Camel Caravan Frozen in Blue Hour Sky
by Lilly Lowery
Steel-blue ambient light washes the endless salt flats near Jeddah as a camel caravan stands suspended in mid-stride. The animals' legs hang at impossible angles, hooves frozen inches above the cracked, white crust. Stacked clouds pile high above, their undersides glowing with electric violet hues against the deepening twilight. Sand grains and small stones hover in midair around the camels' hooves, defying gravity while the wind whips the camels' manes into sharp, static lines. The low angle emphasizes the towering scale of the beasts against the heavy, layered sky. Dust motes remain suspended in rigid clusters, creating a sharp texture contrast against the smooth, pale ground. The nearest camel's shadow stretches flat and unbroken across the salt, mirroring the frozen posture of its legs.
