Ant Lion Pit in Amber Sunset Sand

Rich amber light from the setting sun illuminates a conical depression in fine, pale sand along a game trail. The pit's smooth, sloping walls rise steeply from a central point, their surfaces marked by tiny, concentric ridges formed by shifting grains. A light drizzle has left the sand slightly darker and compacted, creating a subtle sheen where the moisture settles into the grooves. The surrounding earth is scattered with small pebbles and dried leaf fragments, against the uniform texture of the trap. The low angle emphasizes the depth of the funnel against the fading sky, while the wet sand reflects the warm glow of the horizon. One grain of sand rests precariously on the edge of the rim.
