Silhouetted Shipwreck on Sardinian Sandy Shore

by Jeanne Gallegos

Rust-colored iron ribs of a shipwreck rise from wet, golden sand, their jagged edges stark against a pale blue sky. The late afternoon sun, filtered through a recent rain shower, casts a soft, diffused glow that turns the metal skeleton into a dark silhouette. Pools of seawater reflect the clear atmosphere, clinging to the decayed timbers and scattered shells. The turn of seasons is visible in the sparse, dry grasses clinging to the dunes behind the wreck. The hull rests at an angle, half-buried in the shifting grains, creating a landscape of alert, untamed tension where nature slowly reclaims the artificial structure.
