Upside Down Dam Reflection in Water Ceiling in along a dam spillway near Lokoja

Upside Down Dam Reflection in Water Ceiling

by Timothy Hudson

Honeyed evening light washes over the concrete spillway near Lokoja, casting a cool season glow across the massive dam structure. Mist and spray hang suspended above the gray stone, catching the firelight warmth. The sky above transforms into a liquid ceiling, inverting the entire infrastructure. The dam, reservoir, and rising vapor appear mirrored perfectly upside down, their forms hanging from the water surface as if gravity has reversed. Sharp edges define the concrete walls against the fluid reflection. The water ceiling ripples slightly, distorting the inverted spillway while keeping the structural lines legible. One droplet of spray rests on the concrete edge, marking the boundary between the solid ground and the liquid sky.
