Foggy Valley Below Transmission Towers Ridge Dawn in at a canal lock chamber in Interlaken

Foggy Valley Below Transmission Towers Ridge Dawn

by Marlene Schneider

Steel lattice towers rise sharply against a predawn sky, their dark silhouettes anchored on a grassy ridge. Below, a thick blanket of white fog fills the valley floor, obscuring the canal lock chamber and surrounding town of Interlaken. Faint ground glow from distant lights bleeds upward through the mist, casting a cool blue hue over the wet grass in the foreground. Wind whips the tall blades, bending them uniformly toward the left side of the frame. The massive concrete structures of the lock chamber are barely visible through the swirling vapor, appearing as ghostly gray blocks. Metal bolts and crossbeams on the nearest tower catch the dim starlight, creating sharp, cold highlights against the soft, moving fog.
