Storm Surge Wave Breaking Over Seawall at Dawn in beneath fast-moving cloud bands in Kashmir

Storm Surge Wave Breaking Over Seawall at Dawn

by Matias Villanueva

Churning gray water crashes against a rough concrete seawall under a sky heavy with fast-moving cloud bands. The soft, diffused light of first light reveals the texture of the wet stone, slick with salt spray and foam. Dark, turbulent waves surge upward, their crests shattering into white mist that hangs momentarily in the air before settling. The dry season leaves the surrounding earth bare and dusty, contrasting sharply with the violent motion of the water. Above, dramatic clouds stretch across the horizon, their undersides illuminated faintly by the rising sun. The scene shows the raw power of nature as the wave meets the barrier, with droplets catching the pale light and falling back into the churning pool below.
