Rain streaks cut through the clear late-afternoon air, catching the light as they fall across a concrete penstock valve house anchored to a steep slope. The structure stands in perfect symmetrical balance, its flat grey surfaces reflecting the wet sky above. Snow rests on the upper ridges of the roof and the surrounding embankment, a stark white contrast against the dark industrial metal and damp stone. Beside the intake, the ground glistens with fresh moisture, while the sharp edges of the engineering stand firm against the brief shower. One droplet slides down the vertical steel beam, tracing a clear path toward the puddle forming at the base.
