Monsoon Water Tower Over Canal Lock Meghalaya

Deep shadows swallow the foreground canal lock chamber while a pale rim light traces the edges of a towering water structure rising above low cluster houses. Mist rests on the air, softening the outlines of green slate roofs and weathered concrete walls typical of Meghalaya. Droplets from a light drizzle coat the wet surfaces, turning the gray stone into a glossy, dark mirror. The symmetrical arrangement of the lock gates frames the central tower, which stands stark against the hazy morning sky. Moss creeps along the base of the concrete pillars, thriving in the damp monsoon air. One puddle on the stone floor reflects the faint glow of the overcast sky, at the base of the heavy industrial form in the quiet, wet stillness of the valley.
