Sunrise Mosaic Mosaics in Vitoria Bathhouse

First rays of dawn pierce the vaulted atrium of a demolished bathhouse in Vitoria, illuminating a chaotic field of shattered tile mosaics scattered across the wet stone floor. Humid air from the recent monsoon rain rests on the air, visible as a soft haze catching the golden light. The ceiling arches high above, framing the debris below in a dramatic Dutch angle tilt that distorts the perspective. Broken ceramic shards in faded blues, terracottas, and creams lie in jagged clusters, their glazed surfaces reflecting the early morning glow. Puddles of water form in the hollows between the tiles, mirroring the fractured ceiling structure. One beam of light cuts across the floor, highlighting the rough texture of the exposed underlayment beneath the mosaic fragments.
