Sunken Plane Fuselage with Reef Fish in Blue Water

by Arlo Shepard

Rust-orange metal curves dominate the frame, the weathered skin of a fuselage sunken against a vibrant coral wall. Schools of yellow and blue reef fish navigate through the open cockpit window and broken side panels. Sunlight filters down from the surface, creating shifting patterns of bright white and deep azure across the corroded aluminum. The water is exceptionally clear, revealing fine sediment settling on the metal edges. Tiny bubbles rest on the pitted surface near the tail section. The coral wall behind the wreckage displays textured growths of green and purple sponge, against the smooth, oxidized metal. A small school of fish pauses inside the dark interior of the fuselage before darting out into the open blue.
