Late afternoon light floods the roofless nave of a crumbling flour mill near Shanghai, illuminating dust motes suspended in the humid monsoon air. Massive grain chutes, constructed of rusted metal and weathered concrete, stretch diagonally across the frame, their surfaces draped in thick, intricate cobwebs that shimmer in the reflected glow from a nearby flooded courtyard. Dramatic, heavy clouds press low against the sky, casting shifting shadows that dance across the cracked stone floor. The structure stands silent and hollow, its exposed beams framing the view toward the distant water. One strand of spider silk catches the light at the edge of a broken chute, highlighting the texture of decay against the grey sky.
