Silhouetted Textile Hall Ruin in Virginia Fog

by Seth Evans

Broken timber frames stand stark against the deep indigo wash of the last evening light. One fractured clerestory pane pierces the roofline, casting a faint, pale glow that fails to illuminate the interior. Thick, gray fog rolls across the cracked stone foundation, obscuring the lower walls and softening the edges of the decaying structure. The massive wooden beams of the textile hall rise in sharp silhouette, their surfaces rough with rot and peeling paint. Fallen debris litters the ground inside the open bays, creating a chaotic texture beneath the skeletal roof. Light fog drifts through the gaping holes where windows once stood, filling the hollow space with a heavy, suspended mist. A jagged shard of glass catches the fading blue hue, marking the highest point of the ruin.
