Ravens in Sri Lankan Ghost Feed Store Ruin
by Kayla Guerra
Deep shadow consumes the crumbling interior of a feed store in Sri Lanka, where nature slowly reclaims the structure. Vines drape over broken brickwork and moss rests on the damp floor. Dramatic clouds fill the sky above, casting a cool, grey light that highlights the jagged edges of the roof against the gloom. A frame-within-a-frame effect occurs as the broken doorway frames the dark silhouette of the building. Rim light traces the upper corners of the walls, separating the ruin from the encroaching twilight. Dozens of ravens perch on the remaining beams and soar through the open roof space. City lights begin to glow faintly in the distant background, against the cool season air. The texture of peeling paint and weathered wood remains visible in the dim light. One raven lands on a splintered beam, its black feathers sharp against the grey sky.
