Rain Curtain Falls on Cappadocia Plaza in through low marine fog in Cappadocia

Rain Curtain Falls on Cappadocia Plaza

by Elsa McFarland

Dappled sunlight falls through sparse early spring leaves, illuminating a sudden vertical wall of rain descending onto a stone plaza. The heavy downpour creates a dense, gray curtain that obscures distant rock formations typical of Cappadocia. Low marine fog hangs suspended in the air, softening the edges of the scene while water droplets strike the paved ground in a rhythmic, chaotic pattern. Light shifts between bright patches on wet stones and deep shadows cast by falling water. A few scattered leaves rest on the damp pavement, their green hues muted by the gray deluge. At the edge, a dark rivulet carves a line across the pale, porous surface of the ancient stone.
