Rainfall on Stone Steps in Central African Fog

by Curtis Bright

Soft gray light diffuses through a thick marine fog that rests on the landscape. A sudden cloudburst sends a sheet of water cascading down weathered stone steps, the surface slick and dark with moisture. The stones, rough and uneven, guide the flow into shallow pools at the bottom. Fine mist hangs in the air, catching the faint pre-dawn glow. The steps appear ancient, worn smooth by time and rain. Green vegetation peeks from the crevices between the rocks, vibrant against the gray stone. The water moves with a quiet urgency, creating small ripples as it hits the lower tiers. One droplet rests on the edge of a step, ready to fall.
