Cloudburst Cascading Down Stone Steps at Dusk
by Thelma Glass
Heavy rain falls in a vertical sheet, turning ancient stone steps into a rushing river of dark water. The steps, worn smooth by centuries of use, disappear under the deluge, their edges blurred by the sheer volume of the flow. In the background, the distant glow of a town near Van stretches across the horizon, casting a faint orange hue against the encroaching twilight. The sky above is a heavy blanket of gray clouds, pressing down on the landscape. Water droplets hang in the air, catching the ambient light and creating a misty veil around the falling torrent. The stone surface glistens with a wet sheen, reflecting the dimming sky. At the bottom of the frame, the water churns into a frothy white foam before pooling into the dark earth below.
