Rafter in Class V Rapid Amidst Midday Mist

Thick mist hangs low over the churning river, catching the crisp midday sun and turning airborne grit into a suspended haze. From a worm's-eye position near the muddy bank, a rafter in a bright orange inflatable raft faces the violent surge of a Class V rapid. White foam erupts against the hull, splashing up toward the helmeted figure who leans forward with muscles tensed. The steep hillside of Manaus rises behind the water, covered in dense green vegetation that fades into the gray fog. Wet, packed earth and scattered river stones lie in the immediate foreground, at the base of the view at water level as the raft cuts through the frothing current. at the edge is a drop of white spray hanging from the edge of the inflatable tube.
