Windsurfer Planing at Dawn Near Mashhad Riverbank
by Roger Hart
Cold silver dawn light spills across a flat river, illuminating a windsurfer gliding with focused intensity. Ground fog rests on the water's surface in the foreground, obscuring the immediate riverbank while the athlete cuts through the mist. The late autumn air is visible in the crisp, still water and the windsurfer's layered, dark sportswear. From a low angle near the ground, the sail stands tall against a pale, overcast sky, its fabric taut and catching the faint morning glow. Ripples fan out behind the board, marking the path through the grey water. The fins of the board slice the surface, leaving a sharp white wake that contrasts with the deep silver of the river. One droplet of water hangs from the edge of the sail, frozen in the stillness of the moment.
