Inside a narrow, dimly lit kitchen in a Kathmandu home, the late summer evening light falls through a high window, casting a sharp, geometric shadow of a wooden peg rail across the textured white plaster wall. A woman’s hands, dusted with flour, press a wooden mixing spoon into a mound of dough on a scarred wooden table, while a small, chipped salt cellar sits nearby. The walls are painted a faded turquoise, peeling slightly at the corners to reveal older layers of paint beneath. Shelves line the upper wall, holding stacked clay pots and glass jars filled with spices.
