Peeling Frescoes in Puerto La Cruz Chapel

Cool reflected light fills the high vaulted ceiling of a quiet cloister passage in Puerto La Cruz. Faded frescoes rest on the curved walls, their pigments cracking and peeling to reveal rough plaster beneath. The symmetrical architecture frames the space, with polished stone floors catching small, sharp highlights where the light strikes. Dust motes hang suspended in the air, illuminated by the soft glow filtering from unseen openings. The texture of the aged paint contrasts with the smooth, worn surfaces of the floor. One crack runs down the center of the left wall, breaking the perfect symmetry of the peeling mural above it.
