Peat River Flowing Over Granite in Tropical Light in across a wide valley floor near Colón

Peat River Flowing Over Granite in Tropical Light

by Charlotte Zuniga

Dark, tea-colored water moves steadily across broad, flat granite slabs in a wide valley near Colón. The surface ripples gently under a fine, continuous drizzle that creates tiny concentric rings across the flow. Bright midmorning light reflects off the wet stone, highlighting the gray texture against the deep brown of the peat-stained river. Moss rests on the edges of the granite where the water slows, showing the transition between seasons with patches of fresh green growth. The water curves around a central rock formation, creating a smooth, uninterrupted path through the valley floor. One droplet slides down a mossy edge, merging into the current below.
