Crane Hook Over Excavation in Late Summer Rain in inside a taped-off excavation edge in Kanto

Crane Hook Over Excavation in Late Summer Rain

by Peter Bishop

Steel rain streaks the orange safety fencing lining the deep excavation edge in Kanto, against the gray wet concrete formwork below. Just after sunrise, the low sun pierces the horizon haze, casting long, soft shadows across the muddy ground. A heavy tower crane hook hangs suspended in the center, its chains glistening with moisture. The steady rain creates a rhythmic texture on the metal surfaces and ripples in the puddles scattered across the site. Leading lines formed by the fencing and rebar guide the view toward the dark pit. at the edge is one drop of water sliding off the hook's tip, pausing before falling into the shadowed void.
