A steel telecommunication mast platform rises from the concrete edge of a canal lock chamber near Vancouver, silhouetted against a sky heavy with late spring clouds. The structure stands tall, its metal grating and support beams catching the rhythmic sweep of a lighthouse beam that cuts through the darkness. Below, the dark water of the lock reflects the intermittent light, while thick clouds spill over the distant pass, obscuring the horizon. The low angle emphasizes the height of the mast against the dramatic, rolling cloud layer. One red navigation light blinks steadily on the railing, marking the edge where the solid steel meets the misty void.
