Concrete lock walls rise vertically beneath the sweeping steel cables of a massive bridge. Low-hanging clouds press against the dark sky, partially obscuring the distant horizon. Bright maintenance floodlights cast harsh, white pools onto the wet surfaces of the water and concrete, creating sharp contrasts with the surrounding shadows. Red warning beacons blink rhythmically along the bridge towers, their light reflecting briefly on the still canal water. The turn of the season is visible in the bare branches of trees lining the distant bank, their silhouettes stark against the cloudy night. Heavy steel gates stand closed, showing the industrial scale of the infrastructure. One reflection of a red beacon shimmers on the dark water surface near the base of the concrete wall.
