Telecom Ladder Cage Rising from Bog Cotton in beneath transmission towers in Utah

Telecom Ladder Cage Rising from Bog Cotton

by Adriana Nieves

Bright, direct sunlight floods the early spring landscape beneath massive transmission towers in Utah. A steel ladder cage with vertical rungs and horizontal rails rises sharply from a dense patch of white bog cotton. The fluffy, fibrous seed heads surround the base of the structure, their soft texture against the rigid, galvanized metal. Wind whips the cotton fibers into a chaotic, drifting blur while the steel remains sharp and fixed. The low angle view emphasizes the height of the cage against the pale blue sky. Rust spots mark the lower rungs where the metal meets the damp earth. The white fluff rests on the bottom rail.
