Low Angle Railway Viaduct Over Terraced Hills

Clear dry mountain light bathes the massive concrete piers of a railway viaduct rising above steep, terraced slopes in Tohoku. The low angle emphasizes the towering height of the structure against a sky streaked with the thinning clouds of a clearing storm. Late summer greenery rests on the rugged hillsides, against the cool gray of the weathered infrastructure. A narrow maintenance walkway runs along the side of the bridge, its metal railing gleaming faintly in the warm evening sun. The concrete surfaces show subtle textures of age and exposure, while the terraced fields below reveal the precise geometry of agricultural work. One shadow falls sharply across the lower support column, marking the exact angle of the sun.
