Steel Counterweight House Over Black Tidal Channel

Flat noon light strikes the weathered steel and concrete viaduct of a drawbridge counterweight house in Chugoku. A black tidal channel flows directly beneath the structure, its surface disturbed by a light drizzle that creates a network of tiny ripples. Thick steel beams converge sharply toward a distant vanishing point, showing the monumental scale of the infrastructure. Raindrops bead on the oxidized metal surfaces, running down vertical girders and pooling in the crevices of the concrete base. The heavy counterweight box looms overhead, its dark gray paint dull under the bright sky, while the water below mirrors the rigid geometry of the steel framework above.
