Soft, indirect afternoon light fills the frame, illuminating a precise cross-section of a lemon resting atop a cluster of coarse salt crystals. The fruit's translucent flesh reveals a complex network of radiating segments and delicate white membranes. Pale yellow pulp contrasts sharply with the jagged, white geometry of the salt rim beneath. Polished surfaces on the salt grains catch tiny, bright highlights that scatter across the curved rind. The midsummer light casts no harsh shadows, allowing the jewel-like texture of the citrus cells to remain the sole focus. A fine, wet sheen on the fruit's edge reflects the pale wall behind it.
