Citrus Flesh Macro on Salt Crystals Cape Town

Translucent orange segments rest directly upon a bed of jagged white salt crystals along the rim of a shallow pan. Soft raking light from late morning slices across the porous texture of the citrus flesh, revealing individual juice vesicles and the fibrous white pith. The dry season air leaves the salt edges sharp and distinct against the wet, glistening surface of the fruit. No background distractions exist; the composition isolates the organic curves of the citrus against the geometric, crystalline structure of the salt. The light catches the microscopic ridges on the salt grains, creating a high-contrast interplay of matte orange and brilliant white. One shadow falls across the lower right edge of a fruit segment.
