Ivy Reclaiming Cornwall Forge Ruin in inside a roofless nave in Cornwall

Ivy Reclaiming Cornwall Forge Ruin

by Eden Miranda

Hard coastal light floods the roofless nave of a decaying forge room, striking walls thick with black soot and flaking scale. Thick ivy vines climb the rough stone, their muted winter greens contrasting against the dark, charred masonry. The ground is uneven, scattered with rusted metal fragments and loose debris under a heavy, damp air that hangs low in the space. Late afternoon shadows stretch across the floor, deepening the texture of the eroded brickwork. The structure stands open to the sky, revealing the skeletal remains of the forge where nature has begun to reclaim the industrial stone. A patch of moss rests on the base of a broken pillar, marking the edge of the damp floor.
