Siberian Coal Washery Ruin in Predawn Light in through a courtyard reclaimed by grasses in Siberia

Siberian Coal Washery Ruin in Predawn Light

by Diego Ramsey

Silvery winter light cuts through predawn darkness to reveal a courtyard reclaimed by tall, dry grasses. The skeletal remains of a coal washery stand at the edge of the frame, its metal chutes frozen in thick black dust. Snow patches rest on rusted corrugated walls, against the dark industrial debris. Drifting dust particles float within shafts of light that pass through the open structure, highlighting the texture of decay along the beams. Grasses press against the base of the crumbling concrete foundation. A jagged piece of twisted metal hangs from the upper chute, casting a long, thin shadow across the dusty floor. The light reflects off the white snow at the base of the wall.
