Giant Crystal Formations Floodplain Shenzhen Morning

by Gabriela Pruitt

Heavy gray clouds hang low over a wet floodplain near Shenzhen, diffusing soft light across massive crystal formations rising from the saturated earth. Jagged mineral structures stand tall against the overcast sky, their translucent surfaces catching the pale glow of the just-risen sun. Pools of rainwater spread across the ground, mirroring the sharp angles of the rocks in a perfect symmetrical composition. The wet season dampness coats the stone bases, blending dark soil tones with the pale blue and white hues of the crystals. Water rests on the edges of the formations, pooling in shallow depressions before flowing into the surrounding mud. A drop of water clings to a sharp ridge, suspended against the dark, wet ground.
