Falconer Releasing Hawk at Midnight Mississauga in at the edge of a reed bed near Mississauga

Falconer Releasing Hawk at Midnight Mississauga

by Jodie Pittman

A beam of white light sweeps across a wet reed bed near Mississauga, illuminating a falconer in a dark leather gauntlet. The hawk spreads its wings mid-flight, muscles tense against the humid summer air. Rain-slicked reeds bend under the sudden illumination, their green blades reflecting the stark beam. Water droplets rest on the feathers and the leather glove, glistening in the sudden brightness. The bird hovers just above the marsh grass, wings angled for the next strike. one drop of water falls from the tip of a reed stalk into the shadowed water below.
