Factory Chimneys Reflected in Canal at Dawn

Soft overcast light spills across the wide canal, turning the water into a dark mirror for the industrial skyline. A row of weathered brick chimneys rises from the machine shop near Cape Town, their soot-stained surfaces glowing faintly against the pale winter sky. Fine dust hangs in the air, catching the first shafts of dawn to create visible, drifting columns of gray and gold. The canal banks are lined with rusted metal grates and concrete, leading toward the symmetrical reflection where the brickwork meets the still water. Dark shadows stretch long across the wet ground, showing the cold, gritty texture of the early morning. One droplet slides down a cold metal railing near the water's edge.
