Dewdrop Reflections on Spider Web Before Dawn in above a glacial stream in Pakistan

Dewdrop Reflections on Spider Web Before Dawn

by Holly Gilbert

Late spring mist hangs low over a glacial stream in Pakistan, where heat haze shimmers above the cold water. From behind, a delicate spider web stretches across the frame, its silk threads catching the first faint light of dawn. Each dewdrop acts as a tiny lens, reflecting the muted greens of the riverbank and the pale gray of the morning sky. The web sits in deep shadow, outlined by a sharp rim light that separates the silk from the dark background. Fine droplets cluster at the nodes, their surfaces smooth and glassy. One drop on the lower right edge holds a distorted, inverted image of the flowing water beneath.
