Dewdrop Lens on Lichen Bark in Sunlight
One spherical dewdrop rests on a slender blade of meadow grass, acting as a microscopic lens that magnifies the rough, green texture of the plant beneath. The grass blade emerges from a patch of lichen-covered bark, its surface a mosaic of pale gray and muted green crusts. Bright midmorning light falls through sheer curtains, casting soft, warm shadows across the textured wood. The light creates a high-contrast highlight along the upper curve of the water droplet, while the interior of the drop refracts a distorted, inverted image of the surrounding lichen. Fine, dry fibers of the bark contrast with the smooth, taut surface of the water. A thin shadow from the grass tip falls across the lichen below. The droplet's base touches the plant with a perfect, clear boundary.
