Lichen Encrusted Boulder on Iraq Moor at Golden Hour
by Brock White
Warm golden light spills across a vast, windswept moor in Iraq during late summer. A massive boulder dominates the foreground, its rough surface heavily textured with patches of gray and pale green lichen. Fine rain drizzles steadily, creating a thin sheen of moisture that darkens the stone and reflects the low sun. The sky stretches wide above, painted in soft amber and burnt orange hues that fade into a hazy horizon. Sparse, dry grasses bow under the weight of the wind and rain, swaying in unison across the rolling terrain. The wet ground glistens faintly where the water pools in shallow depressions between the rocks. A deep shadow stretches from the boulder's base, cutting a sharp diagonal line across the damp earth. at the edge is a droplet of water clinging to the edge of a jagged rock fragment, refracting the fading sunlight into a tiny, fractured prism.
