Derelict Mill Wheel in Predawn Mist Near Santos

Thick mist rests on the surface of brown, stagnant water, obscuring the lower half of a rusted iron mill wheel. The wheel stands half-submerged, its spokes choked by tall, dry reeds that lean into the gloom. Above, the predawn sky offers only a faint, diffuse glow, casting the courtyard in deep shadow. Grasses reclaim the stone courtyard around the water's edge, their blades muted in the starlight. The iron surface is pitted and dark, against the soft, gray texture of the fog. No human presence remains, only the silent weight of the metal and the stillness of the water. A thin line of pale light touches the highest point of the wheel's rim.
